A gentle answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Proverbs 15:1 NIV
Beloved, your life is about to change for the better! I ain’t lying this time! The living out of this principle and the persistent practice of this powerful precept will turn your entire life around. This one verse will alter every relationship you endeavor to have. The power of this one scripture will revolutionize your passionate relationships, personal relationships, and professional relationships. You desire a loving marriage, practice this verse. You want enriching friendships, exercise this verse. You want a raise or promotion; try employing the truth of this text, because I’m convinced the content in this text is your roadmap to victory.
Solomon, who is a man of wisdom, has spent days sharing with his offspring about the importance and impact of applied wisdom, and now he comes to the practical application of communicating with wisdom in everyday life. Napoleon once said, “More powerful than a standing army is a well-formed word.” Our words, whether in person or electronically, possess tremendous power; the power to heal or to cause harm. The mastery of the human language and our ability to converse with empathy can either defuse or detonate situations. The right word delivered at the right time in the right manner can calm and redirect behavior.
Perhaps you can recall a moment in your life when your words turned into a conversational disaster? Words are the only thing in life that you can’t retrieve, once we throw them out. We can’t take them back. This text is a gentle reminder that gentle conversations have a therapeutic effect and harsh words a toxic effect. Someone once said, “wise men speak because they have something to say; fools because they have to say something.” Which one do you aspire to be?
Prayer: O God, help me to not be the one to stir up anger with harsh words, but empower me Father to choose my words wisely and sprinkle them with grace and gentleness. In Jesus’ mighty and magnificent name, Amen!
